Migrants and Refugees Ministry

Ministries > Migrants and Refugees Ministry (MRM)

The Santa Rosa & Malabar R.C. Parishes Migrants & Refugees Ministry was established on June 24th, 2019 and placed under the patronage of St. Frances Xavier Cabrini, the patron of immigrants. During its development, a ministry guiding document was created which outlined mission objectives and a vision to provide peace and hospitality for migrants and refugees in their local parish communities.

They have a total of 81 members, a core leadership team of six (6) persons and have four (4) sub-committees to manage their ministry outreach. In addition to this, they have 18 bilingual member who are essential to the function of their ministry. They are the largest ministry in terms of its membership size, which includes many young adults within the Archdiocese Ministry For Migrants and Refugees (AMMR) network.  They  are  also  one  of  the  most  active  ministries  offering  diverse outreach.

The ministry focuses on eight (8) areas:

  • Poverty Alleviation (Food, Shelter, Clothing)

  • Solidarity Defense(Community  Advocacy)

  • Healthcare

  • Social  Integration  Events

  • Education

  • Religious  Care

  • Almsgiving

  • Volunteerism

Since  they  began  operations,  they've  introduced  several  programs  to  care  for  migrants:  A  Mercy  Sunday Outreach (providing food, clothing and home improvement relief); A New Moms & Babies Outreach (providing care  to  first  time  mothers,  new-borns  and  pregnant  women);  Health  &  Wellbeing  Days,  English  Classes,  a Conversational Exchange Program and their signature ministry outreach known as Refugee Day, which is hosted once a year, and combines all of their outreach programs, including other third-party service offerings for the benefit of the community.

In the near future they plan to host a child friendly space to engage in child protection activities, engage in more faith-building activities and offer regular healthcare services.
