In 1977 conversations began about a Joint Worship Community in Santa Rosa Heights, Arima. Anglican Bishop Rev. Clive Abdulah had seen a similar project in Jamaica and suggested to Archbishop Anthony Pantin that it would be a witness of Christian Unity. The name, Church of the Annunciation, was suggested by Fr. Clement Francis as it was the greatest Feast closest to March 30th, the Sod Turning date. A temporary plywood structure served as a church building for over ten years.

On April 7th 1997, the new church was blessed. The Joint Management Committee of the Church of the Annunciation (JMCCA) , comprising clergy and laity, manages the affairs of the church.
Joint celebrations held are the Feast of the Annunciation, March 25th, Christmas Dinner, and a biennial Family Day. There are separate events unique to each congregation, such as the annual Divine Mercy Rally in the Santa Rosa/Malabar Cluster, hosted by the R.C. community.

The Church of the Annunciation is the second such Church in the Caribbean. It is the first and still is, the only one of its kind in Trinidad and Tobago.
